Last here in Brighton as part of Russell Kane’s Fakespeare: The Tragickal Saveings of King Nigel, where he put on a play of life’s contemporary trials and woes, all narrated in Shakespearean blank curse. Part of the excellent Magner’s Comedy Festival this year, Kane seems to be going for something different this time around. Exploring self and family, it looks like the comic light will be shined inward for Kane’s next project.
A man who relishes the smutty, taboo and scatological in his comedy, our favourite bile and filth ridden comedian has hit the headlines recently due to an uncomfortable moment at a gig when a women in the audience challenged Boyle over a gag about children with Down’s Syndrome, herself the mother of a child with the same condition. This isn’t the first time Boyle has attracted censure for his act (let’s not forget the Daily Mailesque outrage over his remarks about Rebecca Adlington) but it appears to be something that Boyle relishes, refusing to tone down the content of his comedy.

Best known locally for their impromptu street gigs at Churchill Square their fans are committed and seem to live and breathe the bands every move. This year sees the dynamic quartet releasing their debut album ‘Fake Control’ and Buzz Brighton is here to review the finished result.
The Vagabondz night that started in Leeds, spread to the capital and has now fully established itself in Brighton. The Vagabondz artist rooster has included such acts as Foreign Beggars, Task Force, Plastician, Rusko, Mala, and N-Type to name a few. This standard looks to continue with Vagabondz taking their roster to Outlook festival in Croatia this coming summer.
Artful Dodger brought a new wave of enthusiasm for UK Garage in Brighton. Their set crammed with garage classics and a great mix of dub step remixes made the atmosphere in Digital extremely exciting. The questions about the garage scene in Brighton were answered stirringly by one of the most commercially successful UK garage acts. The spoofing of Avid Merrion did little to make me cringe at the whole crowd singing to 'Re-Rewind' - but that’s just me! The set was a lot of fun and the atmosphere mirrored that.
